Posted on February 23, 2012 at 9:43 am by MelanieHere are some reviews on the products that I received in my February Glam Bag. I didn’t use all the products (there’s a couple that I don’t plan on using at all), but here are my thoughts on the ones I did use:
: Like I mentioned before, I’m happy that I got a more neutral color (taupe) for this product. I’m not a huge fan of glitter, though, and this eyeshadow definitely has a lot of it. It was very easy to roll on (only one swipe is needed), but I feel like the glitter gets everywhere! If you’re someone who loves glitter, I’d definitely suggest this, but unfortunately I do not.
: I only used this product on my forehead, because thats the only place that I’m really oily. I was a little unsure when I was supposed to apply this, but I did it after toning and before using serum (not sure if that’s correct). I noticed that my forehead wasn’t as oily by the middle of the day as it usually is, but it was still oily. This product also contains alcohol, which is a big no no for your skin, and since I don’t really have super oily acne-prone skin, it probably won’t be much good for me (which is why MyGlam needs to personalize their skincare products a little better if they want to continue with skincare stuff).
: There was a Premier moisturizer that I received with this as well, but I’m not going to use it so I won’t be reviewing it. To be honest, I did like this mask (although I don’t think its worth the full size price tag). It made my face feel very soft after using it, and also applied very smoothly and evenly. Unfortunately, the teeny tiny sample packet was only good for one use. I would have loved a larger size to continue trying this out. Oh well.
: I didn’t use this mask because I had a pretty bad experience with the Freeman mask from my last Glam Bag. Also, these peel-off masks (whichever brand you get) usually contain a lot of alcohol and harsh ingredients, so I’d prefer not to put that on my skin.
: I decided I will be using this gift card to pick up a NuMe 25MM Curling Wand (in pink!) from their website. I’m excited to try it and will be doing a review on it once I get it. Despite the fact that the gift card amount is generous and I’ll make use of this, I’m still giving this an average rating since its pretty worthless if you aren’t in the market for a new styling tool or hair extensions (considering you have to put out your own money for it since all their products are so expensive).
This bag averages out to a rating of about 2.5 stars, which is really not good. Literally the only products I used from this were the mask (which I could only use once so thats gone), the chocolates (which I ate, so they’re also gone), and the gift card. I’m sticking around for another month in the hope that MyGlam can improve using the feedback they are receiving from their subscribers.

I love the show Pretty Little Liars! Each girl has such a unique style, so I decided to do a series based around their styles. Hannah is the second in the series. She is definitely the most fashionable of the bunch, and always makes sure to wear stand-out shoes and accessories!
*sidenote: I added the picture of Hannah after I put this outfit together. Its funny how similar it is to what she’s wearing!
Do you watch Pretty Little Liars? What do you think of Hannah’s style?

Posted on February 20, 2012 at 10:13 am by MelanieI finally got my February Glam Bag! I would have gotten it sooner but the USPS sent it to a different state by accident and it had to be re-routed or something. The theme for this month’s bag was “Valentine’s Day”, but I honestly don’t see any of the products as being related to Valentine’s. I’m actually fairly disappointed with this month’s bag as opposed to last month’s, which I loved. Here are the products I received, which I’ll have reviews up for later in the week:
So that was my Glam bag. Way too much skincare. Like many other people, I switched from Birchbox to My Glam because I thought they were more focused on makeup and not skincare. I’m not going to make use of all these skincare products and skincare is something that shouldn’t be switched up that often. Not to mention that those Premier samples can barely be considered “deluxe sized”. Seems like they’re a bit confused about their target audience, too. The X Out looks like its geared towards teenage skin (judging by their marketing, and that its for acne prone skin), but the Premier products are for “anti-aging”.
I was planning on unsubscribing but I’m going to stick it out one more month to see what they have in store for March. I’m really hoping the products will be better. What happened to the December bag that had Urban Decay and Tarte? Talk about a bait and switch!
Did you get February’s MyGlam bag? Are you as disappointed with it as I am?

I love the show Pretty Little Liars! Each girl has such a unique style, so I decided to do a series based around their styles for my Wednesday Wears for the next 4 weeks. First up is Spencer. I love her classic, preppy look!

Posted on February 14, 2012 at 1:44 pm by MelanieHey guys! Hope everyone is having a lovely Valentine’s Day!
I’ve just started a somewhat new routine with my hair, so I thought I’d share. I usually alternate between leaving it wavy/curly and straightening it. I actually prefer it curly, since it doesn’t feel as dry and flat that way. My main issue is that when I’d leave it curly (I wash my hair at night), the next day it would look okay, but the following day it would look terrible since all the curls would have flattened and frizzed etc. I would just throw it up in a ponytail for that day, which I don’t like to do.
A week ago, I decided to whip out my curling iron that I rarely use (it is a HotTools with a 1″ barrel). The reason I rarely use it is because every time I would try to for events or something, the curls would fall almost immediately and it barely looked like my hair had been curled despite working on it for a half hour. So on the second day after already wearing my hair naturally wavy/curly, I decided I’d give the curling iron another try. To my surprise, my hair curled super easily and it looked great when I was finished! I didn’t curl every single piece, just mainly the ones near the top of my head. I curled pieces that were fairly large as well, not super small. The curls lasted all day (without hairspray) and I even re-touched it a bit the next day. I realized (or at least I’m assuming) that the reason my hair wasn’t curling well before was because it was always right after I washed it. My hair was probably too smooth and there was not enough oil or grittiness in the hair for it to form curls as well, if that makes any sense. Plus the fact that I would always make sure that my hair was straight before I curled it, which was probably unnecessary since the natural wave of my hair would have been beneficial for forming the curls. I have been using this technique for the past week and its been working out great! I hope to be able to straighten my hair less now.
Does you hair curl easily or is it a challenge? I’d really suggest waiting a day after you wash it, and then trying it out again…it might hold much easier!
